6 Pack Sale, New Releases, and More at Liberty Lake Wine Cellars in November! 🍷

Welcome to the “New” Liberty Lake Wine Cellars… Well, kind of.

Mark here (Sarah usually has newsletter duty). It’s crazy to think that I’ll be putting our 3rd vintage in barrel before our first wine club release, but at the end of the day, we will simply be carrying on the tradition that started at LLWC in 2005 with Doug and Shelly Smith and their family.

So really, what is new? Definitely not the winemaking techniques, as Doug has been an excellent mentor. But with the ownership transition, Sarah and I had to open our checkbooks to get our contracts back for grapes in the Red Mountain AVA. We were lucky. We are now sourcing fruit from some of the best vineyards, not just in the state, but in the world. For instance, the highest scoring Malbec in Washington State history came from the Scooteney Flats vineyard, where our 2016 and future Malbec’s will be sourced.

Umm, Malbec? Yeah, that’s new. And a whole bunch of other varietals too. Sangiovese, Carmenere, and Zinfandel are coming, not to mention our 2017 Gewurztraminer that was released in October (it’s orange and it’s intriguing). And yes, the Cab Franc will be back soon as well. The fancy barrels with the silver emblems on them? Those are new too, and you are going to love the results.

So, what is not new? Hopefully, our authenticity. Our tagline of “Red Mountain. Unfiltered.” is not just about a winemaking technique. We want to share with you an expression of what wine can be given an input of amazing world-class fruit, top of the line oak, an honest day’s work, and not much else.

2016 Gewürztraminer Orange Wine Release
Friday, October 19th, 4-8 p.m.
Orange wine (or skin contact wine) is made just as a red wine is made. Using a white grape, in this case Gewürztraminer, once the wine is crushed it is then left to ferment on the skins for approximately six weeks. Our process includes bringing the sugar content to zero to produce a dry wine. The time spent on the skins and seeds is what gives the wine the orange color. Festive for this time of year, come try this amazing wine!
